Saanich Volunteer Services is observing National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. In honour of this day, our office and volunteer services will be closed on Monday, October 2nd and we will reopen on Tuesday, October 3rd at 9 am. __________________________________________________________________________________

We stand as allies with our First Nations' peoples to commemorate the history and ongoing trauma caused by residential schools and to honour those who were lost and the survivors, families, and communities who continue to grieve.

Saanich Volunteer Services Society's Board of Directors purchased a new bench and plaque to thank our past executive director, Brenda. She gave years of service to the organization, steering it through many changes wrought by the Covid 19 pandemic in her final years.

Please consider, if you're enjoying a walk around Cedar Hill Golf Course, taking a moment to rest on her lovely bench. Appreciate the peaceful view of the Olympic Mountains, witness the field of jumping grasshoppers, or laugh as a dog plays around the lone, historic Garry oak. If you'd like to volunteer, drop-in to tell us about yourself and we can inform you of the many opportunities for serving the Saanich community if you have the time and the inclination.

“Retirement meant it was time for me to offer my services to organizations where I could make a difference in other people’s lives. Little did I realize how good it made me feel to help others live a better life because we CARED.”
